learn about: The Sleeping Beauty Ballet
This ballet follows the classic fairy tale of Princess Aurora, starting with her birth and christening, Magical fairies arrive at the christening celebration, led by the Lilac Fairy, the preeminent fairy in the land. The King and Queen greet them with gifts suited to the qualities they will bestow on their goddaughter: grace, joy, a musical voice, generosity, a serene temperament and beauty. The fairies give their gifts to the Princess, but just before the Lilac Fairy can bless Aurora with her present, the evil fairy Carabosse arrives and casts a spell onto Princess Aurora making her fall into a deep sleep. Only true love’s can lift the curse, and a brave princes enters the kingdom, rescues the princess, and breaks the spell, The couple’s subsequent wedding festivities amidst the colorful fairies’ dancing marks the ballet’s triumphant conclusion.
